Garlic Herb Butter Steak
Ingredients:
- For the Steak:
- 2 ribeye or strip steaks (1-inch thick)
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 3 garlic cloves, smashed
- For the Herb Butter:
- 4 tbsp unsalted butter, softened
- 1 tbsp fresh parsley, finely chopped
- 1 tsp fresh thyme leaves
- 1 tsp fresh rosemary, chopped
- 1 garlic clove, minced
- Pinch of salt
Instructions:
- Prepare the Herb Butter:
- In a small bowl, mix softened butter with parsley, thyme, rosemary, minced garlic, and a pinch of salt. Set aside or refrigerate if preparing in advance.
- Season the Steaks:
- Pat the steaks dry with a paper towel. Generously season both sides with salt and freshly cracked black pepper.
- Cook the Steaks:
- Heat olive oil in a cast-iron skillet over high heat until shimmering.
- Add the steaks and sear for 3-4 minutes on each side for medium-rare, or longer depending on your preferred doneness.
- During the last minute of cooking, add smashed garlic cloves to the pan for added flavor.
- Rest and Top with Butter:
- Remove the steaks from the pan and let them rest for 5 minutes.
- While still warm, top each steak with a dollop of garlic herb butter. Allow it to melt over the steak.
- Serve:
- Slice the steak against the grain and serve with your favorite sides, such as roasted vegetables, mashed potatoes, or a crisp salad.
